Library Research From The Perspective Of Artifact Analysis

The library is an important place for the preservation and transmission of social knowledge and information.With the emergence and development of human civilization,it has a history of thousands of years.In the 21 st century,with the rapid development of network technology,electronic information technology,Virtual reality technology and other high-tech technologies,the society is gradually moving towards the era of electronic media.Under the impact of the digital wave,the traditional functions of library collection,borrowing and reading are gradually losing,and the status of Library as the center of social and cultural knowledge is constantly marginalized,followed by the "extinction theory" of library.As an artifact with specific functions constructed by real physical structure and form,whether the library will disappear in people’s life in the near future is worthy of extensive and in-depth discussion in academic circles.On the research of artifact,the Dutch school put forward the dual attribute theory of function and structure of artifact.However,the dual theory of artifact has never been able to connect the structure and function of artifact.There is a natural logical gap between structure and function,and there is no corresponding logical relationship between them.Therefore,domestic scholars in the field of philosophy of technology have introduced "form" into the field of artifact analysis,forming a trinity of "structure–function-form",thus reasonably solving the defects of the dual theory of artifact of the Dutch school.From the standpoint of philosophy of technology,this paper analyzes the library in an all-round,interdisciplinary and more comprehensive way from the perspective of "structure-function-form" of artificial objects,so as to respond to the "extinction theory" of library.Based on the comprehensive discussion of the essence of Library and the analysis of its development and evolution,this paper analyzes the structure,function and form of library from the perspective of artificial objects.Through the investigation of the relationship among the structure,function and form of library,the essence of library is questioned and re understood.Library,which is composed of physical structure and form,has specific characteristics.The functional building site and its location form a kind of place spirit,which has irreplaceable central attraction.In the age of electronic media,the essence of library is a way of life.To change the library is to change people’s way of life.If the library dies out,it is to make people’s way of life disappear.Therefore,this paper finally scientifically and objectively responds to whether the library will die out.The answer is no,that is,the library,as a way of life,will not die out.
