Research On The Themes Of Hunan Local Novels In The New Century

Since the beginning of the new century,Hunan’s local novels,which closely follow the times and reflect social reality,have gained new qualities.Its development is worth seeing.Therefore,this paper selects the representative local novels of Tao Shao Hong,Yu Huainan and Wang Qing Wei as the typical samples.I mainly divided this paper into four chapters to explore the theme,the construction method of the theme,the cause of the theme of Hunan local novels in the new century,and to think about the value and limitations of the theme.The first chapter examines the themes of Hunan local novels in the new century from five aspects: pity for the people’s suffering life,concern for the violent acts and chaotic sexual relations of the villagers,nostalgia for the lost Hunan local cultural tradition,sadness for the deteriorating rural natural ecology,and anxiety for the rural political ecology.The second chapter examines the theme construction of Hunan’s local novels in the new century from three aspects: the shaping of characters,the setting of rural objects,and the unique narrative art.Hunan’s local novels in the new century presented the themes they want to express by shaping the corresponding characters and highlight the themes by setting rural objects.In addition,the Hunan local novels in the new century strengthened the corresponding themes through the grand historical narration,daily life narration and allegorical narrative space.The third chapter discusses the causes of the theme of Hunan local novels in the new century from four aspects: the influence of dual culture,the change of times,the tradition of novels and the personal factors of writers.The main causes of the theme of Hunan’s local novels in the new century are the double influence of Chinese traditional farming culture and Hunan’s local culture,the impact of the environment on Hunan’s local society since the new period,the influence of the tradition of Hunan’s local novels and the inducement of writers’ personal experience.The fourth chapter is a summary of the value of the theme in Hunan local novels in the new century and a reflection on the limitations of its themes.The value of the theme of Hunan local novels in the new century lies first in the preservation of Hunan folk customs and national culture.Secondly,like other local novels,it has its own unique expression of reflection on the alienation of regional culture caused by modernization.Finally,Hunan local novels in the new century proposed the development path of rural areas symbolically on the basis of reflection.The limitations of the theme of Hunan local novels in the new century are shown in the weakening of the local characteristics of the theme,the serious repetition of themes,and the gloomy aesthetic style of the themes.
