The source text is selected from the book Arsenic Water Resources Contamination:Challenges and Solution published by Springer. The book discusses the challenges and solutions of the arsenic water resources contamination, and lists many policies and solutions adopted by countries such as India and Bangladesh. The translator has chosen Chapter 6 & 7 for her translation practice. The source text is a informative text of EST,with strict logic and a lot of terms and complex sentences,to which the Communicative Translation Theory put forward by Peter Newmark is applicable as the guiding translation theory.Under the guidance of Peter Newmark’s Communicative Translation Theory, adopting such translation techniques as addition, omission, shift, division and combination to solve problems in translation, the translator has finished the translation of approximately 22,000 words and has developed the present translation practice report. The Report comprises six parts: Introduction,Task Description,Process Description,Translation Theory Introduction,Case Analysis, and Conclusion.Through the translation practice, the translator has improved her understanding of Peter Newmark’s Communicative Translation Theory and her skill to solve translation difficulties with different translation techniques.Besides, the translation experience of formative EST text is accumulated, which lays a solid foundation for her future translation of English of Science and Technology.
