| "Yijin",as one of the Six Classics,is widely spread,whose content includes philosophy,politics,life,literature,art and science.And it plays an essential role in overseas Sinology.’Fathoming the Cosmos and Ordering the World:Yijing(I-Ching,or Classic of Changes)and Its Evolution in China’ serves as one achievement of it.The author would employ Nida’s Functional Equivalence Theory to translate chapters five and six of ’Fathoming the Cosmos and Ordering the World:Yijing(I-Ching,or Classic of Changes)and Its Evolution in China’ to make Chinese scholars engaged in international Sinology research comprehend the development of overseas Sinology.It also aims at overseas scholars’ understanding of this classic and Confucianism,which is important for Chinese scholars to do the international Sinology research.In order to complete the translation well,the author makes a reflection and summary after finishing the work.The author selects many cases to consider the amplification,omission,part-of-speech conversion,four-character phrase,combination and division in the section of cases analysis to evaluate its rationality and effectiveness and finds out its drawbacks.On this basis,under the guidance of Functional Equivalence Theory,the author ponders how to distinguish the differences between Chinese and English at lexical and syntax levels using some relevant translation skills or strategies,and thus,revealing its effect on the translation of philosophical works.It is found that,in translation practices,many problems caused by cultural differences can be better solved with this theory which makes translation more consistent with target language and remains the original’s understanding and expression ways.Besides,the translation can be fluent and accurate.To a large extent,it is of great help to solve the problems of intercultural communication. |
