Analysis On The Expression Form Of Feininger’s Urban Theme Paintings

China’s urbanization process has led to the development of political,economic and cultural levels,resulting in a large number of artists to focus on the theme of painting city.Among Chinese contemporary oil paintings,the works of art on the theme of cities began to emerge in the 1980 s,and the concept was put forward in the 1990 s.Therefore,how the artist presents to people the changes and various problems of the city,and how the influence of the urbanization process on people’s life is reflected in the works,are all important issues for the artist to explore the oil paintings of the city theme.In the research,the author takes the works of the German artist Feininger as an example,and focuses on the rhythm and spatial expression of Feininger’s city paintings,and discusses how to find a painting language that is not only in line with the contemporary era but also belongs to oneself.It tries to use modern colors and fragmented memory of the city to construct a contemporary urban appearance,showing the feeling of anxiety,confusion,hesitation and hope of the urban people in the city.This paper consists of three chapters.The first chapter elaborates Feininger’s artistic style.The second chapter,through the study of Feininger’s city paintings,analyzes how he expresses the rhythm and space of the picture in his creation.The third chapter discusses the inspiration of Feininger’s painting language to my artistic creation of urban themes,as well as my creative concept,exploration process and the way of expression of works.On the basis of previous studies,the author has made a comprehensive and systematic induction and summary,made a certain research on Feininger’s city theme paintings,and combined with his own practice to explore the language expression and the meaning of this theme paintings.
