The background of this research is the reform of the new college entrance examination in Shandong province,and the writer holds practical teaching procedures for this new type in order to improve students’ ability of writing "continuation-task".It is mentioned in The English Curriculum Standards that the core literacy of English includes language ability,cultural awareness,thinking quality and learning ability.And "continuation-task" can reflect these four respects exactly.The new college entrance examination puts this pattern in an important position.As a teacher in Shandong high middle school,we must face with the reform of the new college entrance examination in time,and take some measures in daily teaching activities.This study mainly aims at two research questions.One is the influence of“continuation-task " teaching on improving students’ writing ability.Second,which students are more effective in this teaching procedure? In this study,the writer chooses 60 students in high middle school,and holds two rounds of action research from September,2020 to January,2021.The first round of action research is about the content and structure of "continuation-task",and the second round of action research is about language using.The analysis of relevant data and results shows that this teaching of "continuation-task" can influence students’ writing ability greatly.It can develop students’ innovative thinking,improve students’ writing of content,structure and language,and enhance students’ interests for writing.There are some more obvious impacts among intermediate students and top students because of their basis of English learning,especially in structure and language.But the backward students still have problems in the aspects of vocabulary and reading comprehension.There are also some shortcomings in this study,such as short time in the research,single material selection and so on,which should be improved in teaching practice in the future.
