A Study Of Local Chronicles Written By Shaoxing Literati In Qing Dynasty

Chronicles comprehensively record the history and current situation of nature,politics,economy,culture,geography,society and other aspects of a region,which is an important document reflecting the local conditions and customs of this region.Chronicles originated in the pre-Qin period,gradually formed in the Song Dynasty,and reached its peak in the Qing Dynasty.The Qing government greatly rebuilt the Zhi,from the state,down to the provincial government,counties and towns,as well as the Chiefs and Wei offices.The number and scope of the revision were unprecedented.In the upsurge of compiling local Chronicles in the Qing Dynasty,Shaoxing literati appeared frequently.They are knowledgeable,whereabouts widely,with great enthusiasm to participate in the compilation of local Chronicles throughout the country in the flood,the formation of considerable Shaoxing literati group,to make an important contribution to the development of the cause of our country’s local Chronicles.Shaoxing,since the establishment of the capital of the State of Yue and the establishment of the county by the First Emperor of Qin,has flourished in culture.In the Qing Dynasty,there are 126 local Chronicles written by Shaoxing literati,involving 135 Shaoxing literati.Although the academic circle has made in-depth research on a few famous scholars such as Zhang Xuecheng,Huang Zongxi and Shao Jinhan and their works,it has not paid much attention to and explored the overall quantity,quality,content and value of the local chronologies written by Shaoxing scholars in the Qing Dynasty.This article intends to make a comprehensive review and investigation of this cultural phenomenon in the form of "writing examination",and strive to present the overall appearance of the compilation of local Chronicles by shaoxing scholars in qing dynasty,and reveal the significance of regional culture and local Chronicles contained in it.In the introduction part,the significance of the topic,literature review and research methods are summarized,the differences in the spatial and temporal distribution and the causes of the Chronicles written by Shaoxing scholars in the Qing Dynasty are discussed,and the achievements of the Chronicles compiled by Shaoxing scholars in the Qing Dynasty and the reasons for their achievements are analyzed.The main part of this paper is "a study of local Chronicles written by Shaoxing literati in the Qing Dynasty".The 126 existing local Chronicles are arranged according to the compilation time sequence,and the relevant life stories of these literati,the compilation process,content characteristics,the style of the local Chronicles and the edition collection are investigated.The appendix part is the lost local Chronicles written by Shaoxing scholars in the Qing Dynasty,which briefly presents the lost local Chronicles.
