Language is the carrier and transmission medium of culture,and the external expression of culture.As the main basis of language teaching and the main source of students’ language learning,the setting of English textbooks’ cultural content has a direct impact on the cultivation of students’ cultural consciousness.This study takes the 2019 edition of English textbooks for senior high school(foreign language teaching and research press)as the research object,takes the English Curriculum Standards for General Senior high schools(2017 edition)(revised edition)and Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs as the reference standard,and mainly adopts the content statistical analysis method to discuss the following three aspects:1)The standards of Chinese culture in senior high school English textbooks;2)The problems existing in the setting of Chinese cultural content in the textbooks for foreign language teaching and research press;3)The measures of setting up the content of Chinese culture should be put forward in the textbooks for foreign language teaching and research press.Through the statistics and analysis of various aspects of Chinese cultural content in the textbooks,this paper finds the following problems: 1)the proportion of Chinese cultural content is insufficient;2)the structure and hierarchy of Chinese culture are defective;3)the layout of Chinese culture is defective;4)the presentation of Chinese culture is insufficient.In view of the problems existing in the setting of Chinese culture in textbooks,this paper puts forward the following three measures: 1)in the compilation of teaching materials,it is necessary to adjust the proportion of Chinese culture content,adjust the structure and level of Chinese culture,improve the layout and the presentation of Chinese culture;2)in the use of textbooks,it is necessary to increase cultural comparison,balance the knowledge structure,and flexibly improve the content of teaching materials;3)in terms of syllabus,we need to broaden the depth and breadth of Chinese culture teaching content,and increase the proportion of Chinese culture teaching hours.The research ideas,methods and suggestions on Chinese culture in English textbooks in this study can be used for reference to promote the in-depth study of Chinese culture in English textbooks and optimize the rationality and effectiveness of the allocation of Chinese culture in English textbooks.
