There are many elements that affect English learning,and the negative transfer of mother tongue is a significant one.Dictation is of great importance for junior middle school students while learning English.However,errors often occur in dictation due to the transfer of mother tongue.It is hoped that this study can help students have an objective attitude towards mistakes in text dictation: Mistakes themselves are positive,not completely negative.It is also hoped that it can help students to make fewer mistakes or avoid making similar mistakes again,which is helpful to improve students’ performance in text dictation and improve their English writing level.103 students from a school were seen as the research objects to finish this research,and made error analysis and classification statistics by distributing questionnaires and taking the weekly,monthly,mid-term and final exam questions(the composition content of the test questions came from the original text)as the research samples.The research object was 103 students from a school in Liaocheng.The research lasted for four months and aimed to solve the following two problems:1.How negative transfer of mother tongue affects students’ dictation of texts in junior middle school.2.What kind of teaching methods can minimize the influence of negative transfer of mother tongue?The results showed that there were many reasons why students made mistakes in the process of dictation,but the negative transfer of mother tongue was an important reason.The mistakes made by the first grade students in writing texts were mainly reflected in the aspects of form,vocabulary and syntax.Especially,the improper use of noun singular and plural and conjunctions was the most prominent.There were five types of misuse of nouns: misspelling of plural nouns,lack of plural mark-s,inability to distinguish countable nouns from uncountable nouns,addition of a/an before plural nouns,and incorrect use of collective nouns with plural concepts.There were four types of misuse of conjunctions: misuse of parts of speech,missing conjunctions,mis-selection of conjunctions,and multi-use of conjunctions.Based on the theory of error analysis,this paper summed up the types of noun,plural and conjunction misuse caused by negative transfer of mother tongue,and explored the methods to solve the problems: contrastive teaching of English and Chinese can effectively reduce the negative transfer of mother tongue.The study analyzed the influence of negative transfer of mother tongue and provided some enlightenment for future English teaching practice.But at the same time,there were also many shortcomings.A breakthrough was expected to make on the basis of the paper and study more influence of negative transfer of mother tongue.
