A Report On C-E Translation Of Wuxia Webnovel From The Perspective Of Eco-translatology

Based on the theory of Eco-translatology,this thesis studies three-dimensional transformation,explores the connection and relationship between three-dimensional transformation,and proposes a theoretical framework of multi-dimensional transformation.Under the perspective of Eco-translatology and guidance of multi-dimensional transformation,this thesis takes Magical Queen Taming the Beast as the translation task for further research on the Chinese to English translation of Wuxia webnovel.The author believes that three-dimensional transformation is interrelated and has a certain hierarchical relationship.Linguistic-dimensional transformation is the fundamental dimension in the translation process.All translation processes undergo linguistic-dimensional transformation.Cultural-dimensional transformation is one step beyond linguistic-dimensional transformation,especially for texts like Chinese Wuxia webnovel which contains many culture-loaded words.Communicative-dimensional transformation is the most advanced dimension of transformation within the three dimensions.For texts with special communicative intentions,it is crucial to go through communicative-dimensional transformation,otherwise,the translation result might deviate from the writer’s original intention.Furthermore,each sentence needs to go through one to three dimensions of transformation.Some simple sentences need to go through linguistic-dimensional transformation only.For sentences with culture-loaded words but without special communicative intentions,they need to go through cultural-dimensional transformation in addition;for sentences with special communicative intentions but without culture-loaded words,they need to go through communicative-dimensional transformation after linguistic-dimensional transformation,these two circumstances would be referred to as two-dimensional transformation.For sentences with both culture-loaded words and special communicative intentions,they need to go through linguistic-dimensional,cultural-dimensional and communicative-dimensional transformation successively,which would be called three-dimensional transformation.In this thesis,the author refers to the two-dimensional transformation and three-dimensional transformation as multi-dimensional transformation in order to distinguish and clarify different dimensions of transformation,which might be helpful for translators to better analyze and translate the source text into the target language.
