Without effective preventive and protective measures for them nowadays, silicosis, asbestosis and coal worker’s pneumoconiosis have become common occupational lung diseases around the world.Foreign countries do much research and obtain some achievements in silicosis. The medical papers related to silicosis that summarize the typical causes, research progress and preventives of silicosis, are selected as the source text, which has a great practical significance and is expected to make contributions to domestic research of silicosis.Based on Skopos theory, the guidance of skopos rule, coherence rule and fidelity rule for translating medical papers is explained. The difficulty of the translation is that the medical text contains a large number of technical terms and complex and long sentences. Therefore, through the analysis of examples, the translation methods of abbreviations, polysemy and nominalized structures are discussed at the lexical level. The list method improves the translation efficiency of abbreviations, while polysemy and nominalized structures are translated according to the context. At the syntactical level, the translation methods of passive sentences,non-finite and complex sentences are explored. It is critical to understand the contents and clarify the logical relationship for translating. Then sequential translation and division make the sentences smooth.Mastering the relevant professional knowledge and asking the experts for help improve the accuracy of translation.Based on Skopos theory, the translation methods of medical papers are explored, which provides valuable references for other medical translation practice, and helps other translators engage in medical translation.Figure 0;Table 1;Reference 33...
