Robert Schumann and Franz Liszt are important composers in the period of Western Romanticism and the most outstanding musicians of German-Austrian music in the 19th century. The two musicians, based on the lyric poem Du bist Wie eine Blume of German poet Heinrich Heine, separately created an art song with the same words. Both are the most valuable and widely spread art song adapted from Heinrich Heine’s poetry.Although with the same words, different music experiences are formed accordingly due to the difference of the creation perspective between Schumann and Liszt.Especially in the aspect of emotional expression,Schumann pays attention to simplicity and skill, while Liszt lays emphasis on the subtlety and sincerity. Therefore, different methods shall be applied in the singing processing and sound training of the two works. This paper makes a comparative study on the creation background, the analysis of the connotation of Heine’s poems, the display of musical image, the difference of lyrics homology melody, the use of timbre and the application of singing breath between the art songs of Schumann and Liszt with the same words as Du bist Wie eine Blume in order to elaborate the role of German-Austrian art songs in the voice training and the way of singing of Chinese vocal singers.
