This paper takes the ancient Chinese classical stories of people turning into tigers as the research object, hoping to reveal the basic evolution track and essential structure of these stories through the investigation of the special story type, and make an attempt to interpret the cultural implications therein. The introduction summarizes two large-scale collation and aggregation of the ancient Chinese classical stories of people turning into tigers, and summarizes the relevant research status in the academic circle at present. The first chapter sorts out the development of this type of stories from the two aspects of theme content and thinking characteristics, giving a general discussion on the theme of these stories in different periods, and holds that the story text implies the transformation from primitive thinking to rational thinking and from the continuation of life to the degradation of life. The second chapter analyzes the narrative structure of these stories from two aspects of surface narrative mode and deep cultural structure.Although these stories in different periods show different narrative emphases, the basic structure of them remains constant. The story follows the narrative mode of "setting prohibition--breaking prohibition punishment--disaster relief" on the surface text, and reflects the binary opposition between nature and culture on the deep structure. The storypresents the opposition as well as the ultimate alleviation of the opposition. The third chapter interprets these stories from two aspects of social ethics and witchcraft culture.these stories enable readers to understand and construct the essence of human ethics, and at the same time dispel the ethical crisis in the text in various ways.Because of their profound cultural background of witchcraft, some of the stories can be interpreted as records of the witchcraft ceremony.Other important elements in the transformation ceremony between human and tiger also reflect the witchcraft function of the ceremony.Due to the extensive connotation of these stories,it is difficult to study them in depth. This paper only makes some preliminary discussions, hoping to be beneficial to the further study of the ancient Chinese classical stories of people turning into tigers.
