| In recent years,the trend of Chinese learners developing towards a younger age is becoming more and more obvious.Children are different from adult learners in that they are lively and active,easily attracted by interesting things,and have a short attention span.The teaching design of children needs to be more interesting and interactive,and the characteristics of multimodal teaching can just meet the needs of children.Multimodal teaching is the combination of multimodal discourse analysis theory and language teaching.By adopting flexible and diverse teaching methods and novel and interesting teaching forms,it can enrich learners’ input channels,create a relaxed and active teaching environment,fully mobilize learners’ enthusiasm,classroom participation,and interest in learning,which can effectively improve the teaching effect.However,the domestic research on multimodal teaching is still in infancy,and it is mainly concentrated in the field of English teaching,and the application research in the international Chinese character class is even less.Therefore,this study conducts a multimodal teaching design for the Chinese character class for children.This paper introduces multimodal teaching into the teaching of Chinese characters for foreign children.Using case study,interview method and observation method,four children in an international school are taken as the research objects,and a one-semester multimodal teaching is carried out.This paper mainly discusses the implementation of multimodal teaching in Chinese character classes for children.This paper firstly summarizes the related researches on Chinese character teaching and multimodal theory,and then designs and implements a semester of multimodal Chinese character teaching according to the characteristics of teaching objects and teaching environment.Based on the course objectives and teaching materials,the implementation process of multimodal Chinese character teaching in one semester is divided into two stages.The difference between the modal collocations in the teaching design at different stages is expounded,and the teaching design at different stages is described in detail.The teaching design,teaching effect and classroom participation of different stages were analyzed.Through the analysis of courses and cases,the author believes that multimodal Chinese character teaching can effectively stimulate and improve the interest of children in Chinese character learning,achieve the curriculum goals of Chinese characters,and help learners master the shape,sound and meaning of Chinese characters.Finally,on this basis,the author puts forward the advantages and disadvantages of multimodal teaching,and also puts forward specific suggestions for the design of multimodal Chinese character teaching:(1)On the basis of the existing Chinese character teaching method,the multimodal Chinese character teaching design is carried out;(2)Arrange appropriate multimodal environments according to the teaching theme to attract students’ attention;(3)As a main mobilizer of multimodal resources,teachers are also a comprehensive multimodal resource body,which cannot be ignored;(4)Make full use of existing resources.This paper introduces in detail how to implement multimodal teaching in Chinese character classes for children,hoping to provide some reference for the application of multimodal teaching in international Chinese character classes in the future. |
