Nowadays,feedback still plays an important role in students’ English writing.Nevertheless,for teacher’s feedback,its effects are still controversial.Grammatical accuracy as a basic requirement in English writing,yet quite a few students are inclined to fail in scores on it.To this point,it is necessary for teachers to guide students to conduct revisions and improve their writing ability.As a kind of corrective feedback,both focused and unfocused corrective feedback have attracted the attention of quantities of experts and scholars all over the world in recent years.At the same time,although the effectiveness of integration of oral and written feedback outperforms the written form only,the relative studies are rare.Hence with written and oral forms of corrective feedback,this research is to probe into the effects of focused and unfocused corrective feedback on the grammatical accuracy of English writing for students in senior high school.Supported by Social Constructivism,Interactionism and Notice Hypothesis,this study adopts experiment,questionnaires and interviews to answer the questions as follows:1)What are the effects of focused and unfocused corrective feedback on grammatical accuracy of English writing for students in senior high school?2)What are the effects of focused and unfocused corrective feedback on grammatical accuracy of English writing for students with high and low proficiency?3)What are the perceptions of students towards focused and unfocused corrective feedback?In this experiment,students of two parallel classes in a high school in Sichuan Province are as research participants with one English teacher.Based on the integration of written and oral forms,one class receives focused corrective feedback,and the other class receives unfocused corrective feedback.For grammatical accuracy,verb tense and voice are target grammatical structures,and the change of their error ratio before and after the experiment is explored.In the meantime,to better grasp students’ perceptions towards focused and unfocused corrective feedback,students are to complete questionnaires and are selected to receive interviews.In the end,this paper finds that both focused and unfocused corrective feedback can help students facilitate their grammatical accuracy of English writing.Moreover,for students in both high and low score groups,focused corrective feedback can better guide them to enhance their grammar accuracy rather than unfocused corrective feedback in the short and long run.In addition,for senior high school students,the integration of written and oral forms of corrective feedback receives more popularity than either of them.As the result of questionnaires and interviews,most students prefer focused corrective feedback and the integration of oral and written forms of feedback.In a nutshell,towards students from different levels of English proficiency in senior high schools,it is a prime stage for teachers to take different forms of corrective feedback to help students make progress in their English grammatical accuracy.At the same time,focused corrective feedback is beneficial for them to improve their grammatical accuracy,thus it is of good try to adopt it in the writing.
