At the beginning of 2020.a COVID-19 pandemic swept the world, causing people from all walks of life to think and resist. In the face of COVID-19,non-fiction narrative has quickly found its writing mission and venue, showing unique advantages in writing about events. It can be said that the fundamental mechanism of non-fiction narrative in the context of COVID-19 lies in the relationship between literature and emergencies. As the narrative means with the most anti-epidemic function in the field of literature,non-fiction gives full play to its journalistic, combative and witness nature to record and spread emergencies and the stories emerging in them. This is a typical literary phenomenon of event before, mission before and creation after. Therefore, this paper tries to start from the relationship between literature and public emergencies to carry out theoretical and textual research on non-fiction narratives under the COVID-19 pandemic. The first is the characterization and appeal of non-fiction narrative in the context of COVID-19.In order to transform a large amount of external information into literary narrative in a short time,it is necessary to make use of narrative strategies and narrative paradigms suitable for emergencies.Witnesses and truth-seekers,as two main creative subjects, write about the epidemic in the presence of the subjective truth of the narrator inside the story and the objective truth of the narrator outside the story.Although it presents a relatively single linear structure, the linear structure from disorder to order precisely reflects the changes brought by the epidemic and people’s desire to return to order.Second, the implications and functions of non-fiction narrative in the context of COVID-19.The anti-epidemic function brought by heroism and fighting spirit:the heroic acts with divine significance under the epidemic eliminated people’s fear of the epidemic psychologically, while the imitable behavior and character of ordinary heroes made every individual become a resistance to the epidemic. The political function of writing urban civilization and shaping the image of a great power:in the space of urban epidemic disease, the scientific and technological rationality represented by health modernity highlights modern urban civilization, and finally rises to the macro level, emphasizing China’s strong social mobilization and organization ability. The awakening of life consciousness and the healing function of literature:The non-fiction narration under the epidemic recorded the living conditions and spiritual world of each individual under the epidemic and constructed the collective memory of the whole society. As a kind of traumatic memory writing,it carries cultural memory in the form of text, according to which the writer and the written can be cured by literature. The last is to respond to two major controversies about "narrative for events".The non-fiction narration under the epidemic situation is a kind of instant literature, and the transmission of profound thoughts is not its primary task,so its literary value should be observed from the perspective of timely emergency. In terms of literariness,non-fiction and fictional works should not only pursue truth, but also strive to achieve accuracy, delicacy, vividness and image. At the same time,it should also form the unique personal style of the creator, which is not deviation from reality, but determined by the individual’s world outlook, living experience and way of expression.
