In order to build a platform for the exchange of semiotics between China and the west, and to further deepen the study of semiotics, the second International Forum on Sociolinguistics was held in Tianjin Foreign Studies University on October 18,2020.Based on the audio reports of the speakers at the Forum on Sociolinguistics and Semiotics, reporter carried out the practice of simulated interpreting from Chinese to English, providing help for foreign scholars to further understand the research achievements of Chinese Sociolinguistics and semiotics. The reporter encountered two main problems in this interpretation practice. From the lexical perspective,it is mainly reflected in the insufficient preparation of relevant professional vocabulary, the difficulty of interpreting culture loaded words and four character idioms in Chinese. From the syntactic perspective,it is mainly reflected in the difficulties of long and difficult sentences, colloquial expressions and some sentences with no subject.Reporter made a deep reflection on the text and audio.Through analyzing some interpretive theories combined with examples, reporter talked about the problems in interpreting and put forward the corresponding solutions. On the lexical level, interpreters should first fully prepare the pre-task materials, then make necessary interpretation of culture loaded words, and make prompt interpretation of four character idioms. On the syntactic level, interpreters should first simplify the long and difficult sentences, then explain the colloquial sentences with interpretive method, and finally adopt flexible reorganization method for null-subject sentences. This report summarizes the reporter’s experience in this simulation interpretation, which can serve as a reference to future study and interpretation practice.
