Study On The Dialect Of Gaosha Town,Dongkou County,Hunan Province

Modal particles play an important role to help with emotion expression in sentences,and modern Chinese grammar features abundant modal particles.In recent years,researchs on modal particles in different dialects have emerged continuously,which shows that modal particle study are certainly valuable to dialects and will help to further broaden the research field of modern Chinese grammar.Through searching the existing literature,we found that the study of modal particles in the dialect of Dongkou County is not enough.Therefore,this thesis,with the first-hand corpus through the field investigation,focuses on the characteristics,functions and usage of modal particles in the dialect of Gaosha Town,Dongkou County,reveals the regularity of modal particles in the dialect,and sorts out the modal particle system of Gaosha Town in Dongkou County in the end.The thesis is divided into five chapters.The first chapter,as the introduction part,mainly includes the folk culture of Dongkou County and Gaosha Town,overviews of both researches on its dialect and modal particles,the research purpose,significance and methods of this thesis,the phonetic system of the dialect,the symbol description of the thesis,the case of dialect pronunciation collaborators and the symbolic description of this paper.The second chapter tells the classification of modal particles in the dialect of Gaosha Town.According to the syntactic features of modal particles,this chapter divides the modal particles in the very dialect into mid-sentence modal particles,which are further categorized into emphatic,enumerative and emphatic-enumerative ones,and end-of-sentence modal particles,which are further grouped into declarative,interrogative,imperative,and exclamatory ones,based on the modalities and grammatical meanings.Details of each modal particle are analyzed in the chapter.The third chapter is about the liaison of modal particles in the dialect of Gaosha Town,which normally involves two modal particles or three modal particles.The two or three modal particles used usually put special stress on the last one while retaining their own original modal meanings in the expression.The fourth chapter focuses on a comparative research.By comparing the modal particles in the dialect of Gaosha Town with those in the dialects of Nanchang,Jiangxi Province and Shuangfeng,Hunan Province,it is found that the modal particles of Gaosha dialect shares more in common with those of Huangqiao dialect than Nanchang dialect.Lexically speaking,the dialect of Dongkou Country is featureing more in Hunan style while less in Jiangxi style.The fifth chapter,as the conclusion part,is designed to summarize the characteristics of modal particles in the dialect of Gaosha Town and point out the innovations and shortcomings of the thesis.
