Trauma Narrative In Taohuashan

Taohuashan created by Kong Shangren reconstructs the history before and after the demise of Nanming.The drama reveals the pain and hatred of the country’s destruction.The narratives of Jia-shen Event,the disputes between crony parties,and the demise of Nanming are full of traumas ranging from civil servants and generals to ordinary people.Kong Shangren used the traumatic image of Taohuashan to connect the traumatic memories of the decadence of the nation’s fortunes in the era,the traumas of various regions under the apocalypse,and the traumas of various individuals.In the reconstruction of traumatic events,it reflects on the causes of trauma,and introduces the path of trauma healing to complete the salvation of the character’s spirit,so as to contemplate the trauma suffered by individuals and collectives in the end of feudalism.Kong Shangren used a variety of trauma narrative methods to historically describe the special traumas of the Ming Dynasty survivors,and provided effective help for the healing of the characters and audiences in the play.However,because of the limitations of the times,the lack of necessary realistic conditions,and the excessively severe mental pain,Kong Shangren ’ s healing of the mental trauma cannot achieve the complete healing of the mental trauma of the people in the play,but objectively it does something to the audience’s mental pain.The first chapter of the article describes the traumatic events and victims in Taohuashan.Traumatic events include Jia-shen Event,crony disputes,and the demise of Nanming.Based on historical facts,the truthfulness of the events shows the trueness and severity of the trauma.Trauma involves individual trauma and collective trauma.Personal trauma includes the physical trauma and mental trauma suffered by Li Xiangjun,Zhang Wei,Li Zhenli,and Shi Kefa,Zuo Liangyu,Huang Degong.The collective mental trauma includes the mental pain of celebritys represented by Hou Fangyu,the rouphscuff represented by Su Kunsheng and Liu Jingting,so as to officers and soldiers.The second chapter discusses the healing path of the trauma in Taohuashan,including the healing of the characters in the play,the comfort of the audience’s trauma,and the limitation and positive significance of the trauma healing path in the play.The third chapter expounds the expression methods of trauma narrative in Taohuashan,including the repeated enlightenment of the image of peach blossoms,the appearance of ghost images,and collective trauma under the intertextual reference of literature and history.
