A Method Of Creating Digital Shadow Puppets And Interaction Based On Parameterized Templates

As an ancient traditional folk art in our country,shadow play is a precious artistic treasure of the Chinese nation.However,with the diversification of modern society’s industrialization,urbanization and entertainment forms,the inheritance and development of this ancient folk art with a history of more than two thousand years in China is facing huge challenges.Fading out of people’s vision,shadow play faces the danger of no successor.This paper proposes a method of creating and interacting digital shadow puppets based on parameterized templates.Using this method,the shadow character materials designed by artists can be quickly transformed into a digital shadow puppet that can be manipulated by hand gestures.Because different types of shadow puppets have different body structures and control methods,this paper classifies the digital shadow puppets and designs the corresponding parameterized template.In addition,this paper also studies the digital shadow puppet creation based on parameterized templates,and the interactive control of puppets.Based on the team’s early research,the work of this paper is also integrated into the digital shadow system,which improves the system.The experimental results show that the approach of creating and interacting digital shadow puppets based on parameterized templates can quickly create digital shadow puppets and realize the digital shadow performance based on the hand gesture.This approach can meet users’ needs of interactive shadow play animation creation in both appearance and controllability.
