| The appreciation of ugliness is widely used in contemporary society,which has become a unique aesthetic trend.Ugliness,as a pure beauty that is different from the past,has been used in the artistic creation of film and television with various forms of expression and diversified contents.The appreciation of ugliness in art has gradually become an aesthetic trend recognized by the audience and welcomed by the market.There is also an obvious tendency with the appreciation of ugliness in domestic animated films.The setting of character image was very different from that of domestic animated films in the last century in terms of technology and style.Take the two most representative domestic animated films in the past decade as an example:the design of smoky makeup facial appearance,ruffian body action,and the characterization of both good and evil character temperament in Nezha:Birth of the Demon Child has changed,which changed the image setting of Nezha like a new year painting doll in Havoc in Heaven.Sun Wukong,the protagonist in Monkey King:Hero is Back,changed from a lovely form of Princess Iron Fan to a frustrated and dej ected adult image.First of all,this paper tries to find the theoretical ideas from the research works on ugliness or the appreciation of ugliness,tries to summarize the historical and theoretical background of domestic animated films,and trace back to the origin of aesthetic ideas and character types of the appreciation of ugliness.Secondly,this paper will start from the form,content,and subject of domestic animated films,to sort out and summarize the three forms of the tendency with the appreciation of ugliness in current animated films,which are decadent in form,dissimilated in content,and kitsch in the subject.At present,there is similar character image design logic in domestic animated films.Most of the innovations are to deconstruct or subvert the original visual image and artistic setting of the characters,along with uglifying and vulgarizing the character image,body movements,speech,and other behaviors to promote the transformation of the animated characters from the ’God’ image to the ’human’ image in literature,myths and legends,and from the ’collective’ to the’individual’,to emphasize and highlight the awakening of individual consciousness and the growth.Thirdly,through the case analysis of the tendency with the appreciation of ugliness in domestic animated films,it is found that in addition to the deconstruction of classic characters,other domestic animated films in the same period also reflected the aesthetic transformation of the appreciation of ugliness when designing new characters and arranging narrative content.The appreciation of ugliness has become the overall aesthetic trend of domestic animated films.The digital age has brought about the value transformation of an aesthetic trend of individuation and emotionalization.In the current social context,the artistic form blindly pursues individuality and emotion,which makes the aesthetic trend of art incline to the trend of the appreciation of ugliness.On the other hand,this tendency with the appreciation of ugliness also brought a series of problems such as the popularization of aesthetic trend,the entertainment of aesthetic way and the spectacle of aesthetic taste,which challenges the cultural consciousness of domestic animated films and visual arts.However,there is also a tendency with the appreciation of ugliness in other domestic artworks.From the animation industry,art producers,audience groups,social and artistic communication context,this paper will explore the interactive relationship between the tendency with the appreciation of ugliness in contemporary domestic animation films,other domestic art forms,the contemporary social and cultural context,make further exploration and reflection. |
