The Bridges of Madison County is a novella love story written by Robert James Waller in 1993.As a global literary work,Bridges of Madison County has been adapted many times by various artists for stages and screens.Director Clint Eastwood adapted it into a film of the same name released in the United States in 1995,The original musical adaptation of The Bridges of Madison County premiered at the Williamstown Theater Festival on August 1,2013,and officially opened at The Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre on Broadway on February 27,2014.The musical The Bridges of Madison County was introduced and performed in South Korea in 2017,but it has not been officially introduced in China so far,I was fortunate to get the original English script with the help of a friend who is a local musical actor in the United States,and rehearsed the musical as the graduation work of my master’s degree performance.In the preparation of the role shaping,I analyzed in detail the creation background,story plot,music elements,character setting and main singing segments of the role of the musical.On the understanding of the author’s creative intentions,through the singing and dramatic performance,the inner changes of Robert Kincaid after meeting the Heroine are described in detail on this theses,I make a detailed analysis of the text of the play and sort out the singing ideas for each verse,and discusses the process and ideas of Robert Kincaid’s character creation.
