English Curriculum Standards for Compulsory Education(2011)required teachers to improve students’ reading ability.However,there were also some problems in students’ reading learning.The use of a single teaching method can’t fully arouse students’ interest in English reading learning,which was not very helpful for the cultivation of students’ English reading ability.The knowledge visualization tools can present knowledge structure in a logical way,so as to help students better understand the text and stimulate students’ interest in learning.Therefore,the application of the knowledge visualization tools to English reading teaching in primary schools can help students change their attitude towards English reading and improve their reading ability.This thesis mainly focus on the following two questions:(1)What are the effects of knowledge visualization tools on students’ attitude towards English reading learning?(2)What are the effects of knowledge visualization tools on students’ English reading proficiency?The whole research process included two rounds of action research,which lasted four months.The research subjects are 40 students in Class 1,Grade 5 of a primary school in Jilin City.Each round of action research included four steps: identifying problem,making the action plan,implementing the action plan and reflection.The research instruments in this study included questionnaires,interview,tests and classroom observation.There were three tests,which included pre-test and two post-tests in the thesis.The data of tests were analyzed by SPSS 21.0,and the changes of reading scores of these tests were compared.The questionnaires and the interviews were also be conducted in order to study the influence of knowledge visualization tools to the students’ attitude towards the English reading.The research results indicate that(1)The application of the knowledge visualization tools is beneficial to the development of students’ positive English reading attitudes and increase students’ learning interest.(2)The students’ reading proficiency is improved after the application of the knowledge visualization tools in English reading teaching.
