Nowadays,education is paid more and more attention to mastering English and it has become particularly important.In the context of educational reform in the new era,especially in the primary school learning stage,it is very important to lay a good foundation of English.In order to enable students to master enough skills related to English language knowledge in primary school,and primary students understand the content and express well,and cultivate students’ comprehensive ability of language use,good teaching methods are very necessary.But at present,because of exam oriented-education,the teaching efficiency of primary school English teaching is not very high.At the same time,the teachers’ teaching methods are relatively single.The thesis focuses on whether the application of situational teaching method in primary school English teaching is effective.Situational teaching takes teaching materials as the core in the teaching process,and the content to be learned is displayed in various ways.Situational teaching method encourages teachers to create language situations according to the textbook,student’ living environment and so on,so that students can master the language in the experience.The main research questions of this thesis are:1.What are the effects of situational teaching method on primary school students’ English learning achievement?2.What are the effects of situational teaching method on primary school students’ interest in English learning?In the research process,the author adopts the research methods of questionnaires,interviews and tests with the two classes students of a primary school in Tiexi District,Shenyang.The method is used by the author in the experimental class goes on three months.And the traditional teaching method is used in the control class with same textbook and English content.The results are analyzed between experimental class and control class by SPSS software and the results are as follows:First,after using the situational teaching method,the students in the experimental class have significantly improved their achievement.The achievement of the two classes is very different.The results show that the use of situational teaching method can improve the achievement of primary school students’ English learning.Second,the students who have accepted the situational teaching method have more obvious interest in English learning.They are interested in English,their language ability has also been greatly improved.In a word,situational teaching method has a significant impact on primary school students’ English learning.The method is also of great help and inspiration to the English teaching.
