Educational ecology emphasizes that ecological principles can be applied to study educational phenomena.In recent years,with the deepening of studies,researchers found that it is necessary to return to classroom,which aims to figure out the exact situation of teaching and learning.They hope to have a clear understanding of classroom situation and promote English teaching through the combination of ecology with English classroom,which intends to adopt ecological principles to re-examine classroom ecosystem.Therefore,classroom ecology has become a research trend.Classroom ecology is an organic entirety coordinated by classroom environment,teachers and students in order to complete teaching tasks and improve teaching quality.Although there are various studies on classroom ecology,few of them are focused on the county area,which is relatively backward in education.Thus,this research will investigate the English classroom ecology of junior high school in county area from following three aspects:1.What is the overall situation of English classroom ecology in junior high school of county area?2.What are the ecological and non-ecological phenomena existing in the English classroom of junior high school ?3.What are the underlying causes for the current situation of English classroom ecology in junior high school?The study mainly adopts three kinds of research methods: questionnaire,classroom observation and interviews.A junior high school in Siziwang Banner are selected as the research objects.The recycling of three hundred and forty students questionnaires come from Grade Seven,Grade Eight and Grade Nine,which are utilized to investigate the overall situation of English classroom ecology.The ecological and non-ecological phenomena in the classroom can be found through classroom observation.The interviews select nine students and six teachers to analyse the underlying causes for the current situation of English classroom ecology and SPSS26.0 software is used for making analysis of the data.The study shows that: Firstly,the overall situation of English classroom ecology in county area is not optimistic.The general situation of classroom environment and the evaluation of teacher and students is acceptable.However,the overall situation of teachers’ teaching and students’ learning need to be further improved.Secondly,ecological phenomena can be found:the color of classroom objects,lighting and temperature are suitable for students’ learning.Teaching aids are well prepared.Teachers pay attention to students’ differences in the teaching process,their language expressions are concise and interesting.The evaluations put focus on the diverse subjects and methods.Non-ecological phenomena are as follows: seating arrangement is unsuitable;the sanitation of classroom is untidy.The atmosphere of most classes are inanimate.The teachers position is fixed in the classroom.The teaching objectives are incomplete;teachers seldom distinguish the key points from the difficult points;teaching methods are not entirely suitable for students’ learning situation;most teachers can not process teaching materials and solve problems skillfully.The interactions lack of democracy,openness and diversity.Students have lower degree of participation in classroom activities.Students lack of communication and cooperation of subjects and contents.The evaluations of teacher and students attach little importance to contents.Finally,this study discovers that the causes for the current situation of English classroom ecology in junior high school of county area are mainly from students,teachers,families and school.And some countermeasures are put forward to optimize the classroom ecology in terms of enhancing students’ English level,creating opportunities for professional training,attaching importance to home-school cooperation and improving school management.It also provides ideas and suggestions for realizing the ecological cycle and development of English classroom ecology.
