A Research On Time Traveling Films From The Perspective Of Heterotopias

Time traveling films have always been loved by audiences and the market,but the space issue of such movies is rarely mentioned,which makes the previous researches on time traveling films inevitably go towards the shortcomings and biases.The intervention of Foucault’s theory of Heterotopias has brought attention to the space issue of time traveling films.From the perspective of this theory,time traveling films show a strong spatiality of heterotopias,which is not only consistent with the six characteristics of heterotopias,but also can see its unique construction of heterotopias,after being divided into three categories: space-time parallel,space-time crossing and space-time cycle.As an open theory,theory of Heterotopias guides people to pay attention to those unique spaces and open to other ideas,so as to form a variety of cognition of these spaces,which makes some phenomena that have been neglected or even misunderstood for a long time in time traveling films revealed and corrected.On this basis,the heterotopias of time traveling films has unique aesthetic value: in terms of content,it has the aesthetic characteristics of resisting order,reconstructing relationship,tragic aesthetics and so on;In terms of artistic means,it has the characteristics of "meta film" and "anti film".In addition,the heterotopias of time traveling films also moves from the external space to the internal space,shaping and preserving the beautiful human value,so it has some positive practical significance.
