| This translation project report is based on To Love and Let Go by Rachel Brathen,a world-renowned yoga teacher.There are 21 chapters in this book.The author participated in the translation of singular chapters and the proofreading of even chapters.This report on translation project fully records the translation task,analyzes examples of psychological descriptions in this translation project from the perspective of cognitive linguistic view on translation,and finally summarizes the gains and losses.The material of this project report is the author’s autobiographical novel,which records her experience from childhood to motherhood in more than 20 years,including a large number of descriptions about the author’s inner world.Professor Wang Yin’s cognitive linguistic view on translation is based on cognitive linguistics.There are six viewpoints contained in his model of cognitive linguistics which are instructive to the translation of this book.This project report has two major innovations,which are also difficulties for the author.First,the author applies the “embodiment” to the translation of psychological descriptions by immersing in the character’s heart or the environment;In this project report,the author analyzes some examples of psychological descriptions from three aspects: internal monologue,dream or hallucination and environment at length.Secondly,the cognitive linguistic view on translation is mostly used in the study of "metaphor" and "culture-loaded words",which has not been used in psychological description so far.This project report combines the two perspectives to study whether the cognitive linguistic view on translation is applicable to the psychological description translation.Through this translation report,the translator finds that it is practical to use cognitive linguistic view on translation to guide the translation of psychological description.The translator also hopes that this report can provide a new perspective and some references for other researchers. |
