A Study On The Construction Of National Identity In Historical Documentaries Of The War To Resist US Aggression And Aid

In recent years,China has emphasized that literary and artistic works should carry forward the main melody,learn the four histories,carry out mainstream ideological education,advocate national discourse and enhance people’s sense of national identity.Historical documentary is a kind of literary and artistic works based on the statement of facts.It can better spread the historical truth,give play to its own authenticity,attract the audience,form a good communication effect,form people’s respect for history and the country,and shape and construct national identity.This paper selects six historical documentary documentaries with the theme of resisting US aggression and aiding Korea broadcast in 2020 and created to commemorate the 70 th anniversary of the war to resist US aggression and aid Korea,analyzes their contents,and studies how they carry out the construction of national identity from the aspects of picture expression,symbol use and discourse narration,which is divided into five chapters.The first is the elaboration of relevant concepts,including the connotation and characteristics of historical documentary films,the theoretical overview of national identity,clarifying the research object and positioning of the article,analyzing the narrative strategies of historical documentary films on the theme of resisting US aggression and aiding Korea from the perspectives of image application,narrative perspective and theme writing,and pointing out their important role in constructing national identity.Secondly,by observing the text itself and communication process of historical documentary on the theme of resisting US aggression and aiding Korea,this paper analyzes how it awakens historical memory and forms media ceremony,and then generates national identity.Thirdly,it analyzes the multiple values formed in the process of national identity construction,including making biographies for the country and the nation,improving national cohesion,promoting the dissemination of Chinese stories and so on.Finally,it points out the shortcomings of the historical documentary of resisting US aggression and aiding Korea,and puts forward some suggestions for improvement.
