Language and images,as the basic forms of "symbol" media,each undertake a certain communication mission,while picture books containing pictures and texts,as a silent statement,influence and organize people’s social behavior from all aspects of life.This "silent statement" is reconstructed in the creator’s imagination,transforming from abstract perception to concrete text,and then from text to symbolic image.The creator constantly conveys the picture book through the presupposition and guidance in his pen.Narrative significance,spread social spiritual value.Multimodal discourse is a whole composed of two or more semiotic systems.Various semiotic resources and language coexist and influence each other in terms of meaning expression and interaction with readers.The relationship between pictures and texts in picture books is the most important aspect to study the relationship between different modalities.With the help of certain theoretical basis,this paper conducts in-depth research on the presentation and meaning transmission of multimodal texts in local emotional story picture books.Different from analyzing the meaning of discourse from the perspective of linguistics,analyzing the characters,schemas,colors and other symbols in multimodal picture book discourse can help readers deeply understand the meaning of discourse and form an interactive relationship between creators,readers and pictures and texts.Starting from the perspective of multimodal discourse analysis,based on the visual grammar framework and the theory of intersemiotic complementarity,this paper conducts a specific analysis of the graphic presentation and meaning expression of emotional story picture books,and discusses the image,text modality and reader construction in picture books.interaction.The discussion of this paper starts with the "complementary relationship between pictures and texts" of Jimmy picture books,conducts experiments to explore the relationship between pictures and texts in picture books,and discusses the emotional interaction between picture books and readers by analyzing the visual process of picture book reading.Through experiments,it is found that the same cognitive subject acquires information and understands meaning by means of complementary pictures and texts when reading picture books,making the discourse meaning of the picture book more threedimensional and complete.Among them,through experiments,the impact of three graphic and text complementary mechanisms on readers’ reading is found and discussed,and how the creators use different graphic and text complementary mechanisms to deepen the expression of narrative meaning in design practice,so as to build a reader intervention and form emotional interaction is solved.The discussion on the relationship between pictures and texts and the expression of meaning in picture books is not the latest topic.However,the growth of today’s society and economy and the extension of the connotation of modern design are promoting new intersections between them.The research on the complementary relationship between pictures and texts in picture books is also becoming an important trend that more and more scholars appeal to wisdom and devote energy,because it is kind of visual reading that seems to be insignificant and can be seen everywhere.And life always shines with a quality of freedom and sensibility.
