| Cai Jiawan was a scholar from Anhui Province during the Qianlong,Daoguang and Jiaqing periods of the Qing Dynasty. The Qing Dynasty scholar called himself “Taomen disciple”,who had more than 1000 poems survived in existence today, and these poems were included in his poetry monographs which named Taomen Dizi Ji,Taomen Xuji and Taomen Yuji.Based on these rich reading materials, with the help of the research results of scholars on the “reception history of Tao Poetry”,and take the theory of literary acceptance as the guiding ideology, this master’s thesis starts from several aspects of Cai Jiawan’s personal situation, family background, poetry creation, the premise basis and the specific behaviours of accepting Tao Yuanming.Try to systematically study the “Taomen disciple”Cai Jiawan’s acceptance of Tao Yuanming in the Qing Dynasty, and then more comprehensively and deeply understand the literaryvalue of Cai Jiawan’s study of Tao’s Poetry and its contribution to Tao Yuanming’s reception history. This master’s thesis is divided into five parts. The introduction part mainly expounds the research motivation, research status and research methods of the paper. So far, there has been no systematic research on Cai Jiawan’s acceptance of Tao Yuanming’s poetry. This chapter mainly affirms the importance of Cai Jiawan’s study of Tao Yuanming’s activities, explains the necessity and innovation of carrying out research work related to the topic selection of this paper. At the same time, this chapter summarizes the content of Western reception aesthetics theory and the development process of this theory after it is introduced into China.According to the previous research results, this part makes a brief induction and summary, then lays a theoretical guiding foundation for the later research work. The first chapter mainly expounds the life and family background and poetry creation of Cai Jiawan, the “Taomen disciple” in the Qing Dynasty. The Cai family in Hefei has been an official for many generations, belonging to the ranks of the scholarly family, and fell into the middle of the family of Cai’s father’s generation, but Cai Jiawan’s life was ill-fated,and he never made an official career.Rich life experience makes his poetry creation reflect different styles and life philosophies at different stages. When he was at home at an early age,the style of poetry was green and dull. When he traveled in his prime, his poetry style was elegant and unrestrained. When he was a lecturer in Haizhou, his creative style was unpretentious and leisurely. In his later years as a staff officer and teacher, his temperament was optimistic and comfortable. His overall style is similar to Tao Qian,A lifetime of indulgence and simplicity and nature. The second chapter mainly explores the premise and foundation of Cai Jiawan’s acceptance of Tao Yuanming. It is mainly divided into two aspects: the objective conditions of the outside world and the subjective conditions of itself. The first is the development and prosperity of the publishing industry in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. At that time,Anhui merchants had frequent exchanges, which made the publishing and printing industry develop to a certain extent in Huizhou. In addition, people in Huizhou have the tradition of reading and writing, and they placed great emphasis on collecting books. The literati groups of the past dynasties were also pay special attention to the recitation and arrangement the collection of Poems by Tao Yuanming. These objective factors made Tao Yuanming’s poetry collections spread and accepted among the literati groups. This is also one of the objective prerequisites for Cai Jiawan to be able to learn and read Tao poetry. In addition, the influence of Cai’s father Cai Bangxuan on Cai Jiawan, mainly reflected in the two aspects of poetry creation and life attitude. The activities of the Cai family’s father and son to learn pottery and to inherit pottery are in the same line.Even Cai Jiawan accepted Tao Yuanming’s various behaviors, which was more comprehensive than his father. But Cai Bangxuan’s guiding and exemplary role to Cai Jiawan is beyond doubt. The third chapter mainly studies and discusses the specific performance of Cai Jiawan’s acceptance of Tao Yuanming in an all-round way.The first part expounds the specific performance of Cai Jiawan’s pursuit of Tao Yuanming’s poetry creation. It mainly includes three aspects: his acceptance of the subject matter of Tao’s poetry, his acceptance of the style of Tao’s poetry, and his acceptance of Tao Yuanming’s view of literature and art.Cai Jiawan mainly traced the three themes of Tao’s pastoral poems, drinking poems, and chanting epic poems. He also traced the three poetic styles of Tao’s poetry: simple poetic language, leisurely imagery atmosphere, and elegant and plain state of mind. And he traced Tao’s literary and artistic conception.Through the correspondence and comparison of Cai’s poetry and Tao’s poetry, summarize the relationship and similarities and differences between them. The second part expounds the concrete manifestation of Cai Jiawan’s adoration of Tao Yuanming’s ideology. It mainly explains his acceptance of Tao Yuanming’s return to the true outlook on life, the natural view of life, the wisdom of cultivating truth and seeking purity, and the turning loneliness into self-adaptive life wisdom. As far as Cai’s poetry content and realm are concerned,in terms of ideology,it is still slightly inferior to Tao’s poetry. The third part expounds the specific performance of Cai Jiawan’s chasing and imitating Tao Yuanming’s way of life.It is mainly divided into two aspects: his rural seclusion life and his free drinking life.By reading Cai Jiawan’s life poems, there are countless things that can reflect his direct and indirect acceptance of Tao Yuanming. In a nutshell, this “Taomen disciple” in the Qing Dynasty learned from Tao Yuanming’s behavior in an all-round way, from the outside to the inside, and deepened layer by layer. The latter chapter mainly discusses Cai Jiawan’s historic contribution to the acceptance of Tao Yuanming. The first section discusses his contribution to the history of Tao Yuanming’s acceptance.Cai Jiawan was an important literati in the Qianlong,Jiaqing and Daoguang periods of the Qing Dynasty, mainly circulated in Anhui and Jiangsu regions throughout his life.He is quite famous in the history of “redology”,but there is little research on his acceptance of Tao Yuanming. This section classifies and summarizes the history of Tao’s poetry acceptance,it can be found that there are countless literati who accepted Tao Yuanming before Cai Jiawan. However, there are very few literati who are as clear-cut as him, inherit from father and son,and learn pottery in an all-round way.In particular, there are almost no pottery scholars active in Anhui and Jiangsu provinces.Cai Jiawan’s Acceptance of Tao Yuanming,on the one hand,it can be regarded as a supplement to the history of Tao’s poetry in the middle and late Qing Dynasty. On the other hand,it can be shown that the history of Tao’s poetry acceptance has been developed in Anhui and Jiangsu regions. The second section discusses Cai Jiawan’s contribution to the study of Tao’s poetry. The preservation and dissemination of his poetry collections,it not only promoted the canonization of Tao’s poetry, but also inherited and developed Tao’s “Peach Blossom Garden” paradigm. The transformation and writing of the classic images of Tao’s poems by literati of all dynasties, and the yearning and longing for the blueprint of “Taoyuan”.It is an important portrayal of their acceptance of Tao Yuanming. |
