| Ursula K.Le Guin is the first female science fiction writer in the history of western science fiction literature who won both Hugo Award and Nebula Award,and enjoys a high reputation in the field of American science fiction literature.In The Changing Planes,a collection of short stories completed in 2003,Ursula K.Le Guin describes twenty different "plane" Spaces.The concept of "plane" fits well with the concept of "parallel world" in modern science fiction.In these 20 Spaces with different styles,Ursula K.Le Guin boldly imagines the living conditions of human beings in the future,breaking the limitations of human cognition again and again,and leading readers into the strange and novel world of others.At the same time,the author also reconsiders the development of human beings and human civilization after the arrival of the post-human era.In this paper,Close reading of text method is adopted to comb The Changing Planes,which is mainly composed of three parts.First of all,the introduction makes clear the current research status and excavates new research ideas through the classification of Ursula K.Le Guin related research materials at home and abroad.Second,The body part use Roland Barthes semiotics theory on The Changing Planes layout codes,interpretation codes,sememe codes,symbol codes and cultural codes depth resolution,by listing typical codes from the text,confirmed Ursula K.Le Guin did use a large number of codes factors in the process of literary creation,these codes are intertwined,Together form Ursula K.Le Guin’s unique science fiction literary charm.The third part concludes by sorting out the use of all the codes in the text and exploring the characteristics and connotations of the codes in Ursula K.Le Guin’s sci-fi works,so as to explore the connection between her sci-fi literary creation and semiotics.From the perspective of Roland Barthes’ semiotics,symbols are an integral part of the meaning transmission process of works,just like cells in the human body,while text is the carrier of meaning transmission of works,equivalent to a complete body.A work can complete the transmission of meaning,need the mutual cooperation between the symbol and the text.At the same time,literature itself is a symbol,a symbol used to create and change the world.On the one hand,using semiotics to interpret The Changing Planes is beneficial to better understand Ursula K.Le Guin’s flexible way of dealing with symbols and texts in science fiction,which is innovative to some extent.Secondly,it probes into the author’s strict and orderly science fiction territory and further explores the enlightenment of science fiction literature to the present. |
