| The translation practice material for this report is selected from the English book Handbook on E-marketing for Tourism Destinations. It is a guidebook for those who are engaged in online marketing for tourism destinations in English-speaking countries.Translated into Chinese,it can provide valuable reference for Chinese online marketers, and help to promote the domestic tourism resources. The report is based on the translation of chapters 4 and 5 of the book and consists of four parts. The first part is an overview of the translation task, introducing the background of the translation task, the purpose and significance of the practice, and analyzing the characteristics of the source text. The second part reports the whole process of the translation task from three aspects – the preparations before the translation, the problem handling during the translation, and the quality assurance after the translation. The third part is the core of this report, which discusses the guiding role of the textual cohesion theory in this translation practice through the analysis of typical translation cases. It is found that the theory not only deepens the translator’s understanding of the original text, but also helps the translator improve the fluency of the translation. The last part of this report summarizes the gains the author has by completing the translation task, and also reflects on the shortcomings. It is hoped that this report will bring some insights to translators and organizations that translate similar text types and contents. |
