| In today’s society where international exchanges are increasingly frequent, translation,as a cross-cultural activity,is becoming more and more frequent. In the increasingly frequent and in-depth cultural exchanges, literary translation exchanges play an essential and prominent role.Literary translation allows target language readers to experience different cultures, thereby enhancing cultural exchanges. The source language text selected for this translation practice comes from the novel Waiting to Begin by contemporary British writer Amanda Prowse. The book is a narrative text, intertwined with a large number of dialogues and long and complex sentences, which brings challenges to the translator. When translating, the translator follows the three principles of Skopos Theory: Skopos rule, coherence rule and fidelity rule, and applies the translation techniques of sequencing, inversion, splitting, conversion, and comprehensive strategies to translate long and complex sentences in the text.Through this translation practice, the translator can re-examine her translation ability, realize her lack of translation theoretical knowledge, and be able to flexibly and skillfully use various translation strategies to solve the difficulties in the future translation process. |
