In the present English writing teaching, teachers attach more importance to the process of teaching rather than the assessment, ignoring the effect of assessment on improving students’ overall writing skills. As for assessment methods,it is teacher assessment that occupies the dominant position. As it actually fails to arouse students’ interest,it is not effective as expected. In the year of 2016,a brand new assessment method,“Teacher-student collaborative assessment”(TSCA)was put forward by Professor Wen Qiufang so as to get the utmost of assessment. This method effectively combines assessment from teachers, peers and students themselves. It is learning-centered,highlights the participation of students and meanwhile arouses students’ initiatives. This paper applies TSCA to English writing teaching in Senior Three, adopting both qualitative and quantitative analyses. It is designed to test the effectiveness of this method on advancing students’ overall writing skills, including accuracy and complexity, enhancing writing motivation and reducing writing anxiety through teaching experiment, questionnaire and interview.By analyzing experiment statistics,it is indicated that teacher-student collaborative assessment plays an effective role in advancing students’ writing accuracy and complexity, meanwhile enhances students’ writing motivation and reduces students’ writing anxiety, especially lower-level students.
