A Study On The Continuation Writing Teaching In Senior High School Based On The Genre Analysis

With the comprehensive launch of the new examination and enrollment system reform,Continuation Writing,as a new way to combine reading and writing,has been included in the college entrance examination.The cultivation of students’ reading and writing ability has become an important task in the reading-writing integrated classes in senior high schools.However,although Continuation Writing has been proved to have a certain role in promoting learning,there are many factors that restrict the effects of Continuation Writing in the actual teaching process.Genre analysis,as an effective method to improve students’ reading and writing ability,can help teachers guide students to interpret texts from the perspective of text genres.However,domestic and foreign research on genre analysis mainly focuses on the impact on teachers’ teaching and students’ learning,and less attention is paid to the combination of genre analysis ability and the reading and writing teaching of high school teachers and students.Therefore,this study has certain research significance and value.By means of literature review,questionnaire,interview and classroom observation,this study investigates the teaching situation of Continuation Writing in Suzhou area,especially the application of genre analysis,summarizing the problems and providing suggestions for improving the current situation of Continuation Writing teaching.On the basis of literature review,this study defines key concepts and clarifies the theoretical basis,and further formulates a questionnaire framework based on domestic and foreign genre analysis frameworks.After designing and carrying out the research,386 high school English teachers in Suzhou are surveyed,in which 5teachers are selected to participate in the interview.Furthermore,A classroom observation was conducted for a period of 3 months with a total of 27 class hours.The conclusions are as follows:(1)Overall,teachers have a clear understanding and a positive attitude towards Continuation Writing;(2)Teachers’ overall teaching preparation for Continuation Writing is good,but there are significant differences among different teachers;(3)The dimensions of genre analysis are relatively comprehensive,but the level of recognition of each dimension is different;(4)Teachers’ awareness of genre analysis is related to many individual background factors,of which individual experience factors have the greatest impact;(5)Continuation Writing are faced with many problems,among which the lack of systematic corpus support and professional training has the greatest impact.Hence,this study puts forward 5 suggestions,including innovating the organization of classroom activities and highlighting the dominant position of students,grasping the appropriateness of language and cultural connotation and strengthening teachers’ awareness of genre analysis,integrating and developing Continuation Writing materials to form systematic teaching resources,developing targeted training to enrich the contents and forms of training and improving the teaching system of Continuation Writing and standardizing the form of teaching research activities.
