| Festivals,as well as the related customs and activities,have always been the important writing objects of ancient Chinese novels.In particular,the Lantern Festival,with its long history and rich connotation,is one of the most important traditional festivals in China.Naturally,it has become a main object of narration and description by novelists.In particular,the vernacular novels of the Ming and Qing Dynasties have large text capacity,strong expressive ability,wide range of social life,high combination of various narrative structures and folk events,and have made high achievements in the Lantern Festival writing.Generally speaking,the Lantern Festival writing of vernacular novels in the Ming and Qing Dynasties has a unique narrative significance in the characterization,scene presentation and plot setting,which deserves our attention.This paper takes the vernacular novels of the Ming and Qing Dynasties as the research object and the Lantern Festival as the entry point,focusing on the narrative function and important contribution of the vernacular novels of the Ming and Qing Dynasties.In short,this paper can be divided into five parts:The introduction part introduces the research status and significance of the topic,as well as the research content and research methods.Specifically,the first part of this paper starts with the historical reality of the occurrence and development of the Lantern Festival,combined with the relevant documents,investigates and describes the historical situation of the Lantern Festival,introduces the important festivals and customs activities of the Lantern Festival(especially those who are often the object of writing),and roughly returns its historical appearance.Then it combs the artistic tradition of the Lantern Festival writing,and discusses the writing of the Lantern Festival in literary works of previous dynasties from the two aspects of lyric literature and narrative literature.Since the Six Dynasties,people have included the Lantern Festival writing in their literary works.During the Sui and Tang Dynasties,lyric literature developed rapidly,and the Lantern Festival poetry became more and more mature.The Lantern Festival writing is also common in narrative literature,but the Lantern Festival is still regarded as a special day,with little expression of festival customs.During the Song and Yuan Dynasties,the Lantern Festival writing developed rapidly,with a large number of poems and artistic taste.At the same time,with the popularity of speech in Song and Yuan Dynasties and the secularization trend of classical Chinese novels,the combination of the Lantern Festival and narrative structure is becoming closer and closer.The second part turns to the concentrated study of the Lantern Festival writing in vernacular novels of the Ming and Qing Dynasties.This part focuses on the relationship between the Lantern Festival writing and characterization in vernacular novels of the Ming and Qing Dynasties,and excavates the narrative function of the Lantern Festival writing in characterization.It can be seen that the Lantern Festival writing plays a role in highlighting the characters’ character,presenting the characters’ relationship,predicting the characters’ fate and so on.Compared with the previous generation,the artistic taste of the Lantern Festival writing in vernacular novels in the Ming and Qing Dynasties has been greatly improved,so the characters in novels are more abundant and the marginal characters appear more frequently.The third part focuses on the relationship between the Lantern Festival writing and scene presentation in vernacular novels of the Ming and Qing Dynasties.In particular,it focuses on the scenes constructed by the main folk activities of the Lantern Festival in the novel,such as banquet scenes,drama scenes,sightseeing scenes and social fire scenes.On this basis,this paper analyzes the extension and transformation of narrative space in the scene.The fourth part studies the function of the Lantern Festival in the plot setting of the vernacular novels of the Ming and Qing Dynasties,analyzes the narrative function of the sequence concatenation and sequence nodes written by the Lantern Festival,and focuses on exploring the three narrative modes formed by the Lantern Festival narrative of the vernacular novels of the Ming and Qing Dynasties on the basis of inheriting the vernacular scripts of the Song and Yuan Dynasties: "touring-encounter","lost population / missing items" and "cheating".The last part is the conclusion,which summarizes the inheritance and Transcendence of the Lantern Festival writing in the vernacular novels of the Ming and Qing Dynasties to the previous generation.Summarize the unique narrative significance of the Lantern Festival writing in vernacular novels of the Ming and Qing Dynasties,and explore the direction that the research can continue to expand. |
