The source text of the translation report originated from the Introduction and Chapter Seven of Your Fully Charged Life: A Radically Simple Approach to Having Endless Energy and Filling Every Day with Yay.It is a popular psychological book, written by Megan B Murphy.Based on her own life experience,Murphy summed up various skills to make life fully charged in the book. The translation practice is under the guidance of Reiss’ s Text Typology theory.Based on Bühler’s functions of language,Reiss classified text types into informative text, expressive text and operative text, and summarized the characteristics and translation methods of each text type.During the process of translation, the translator analyzed the text types of the book Your Fully Charged Life and found that it mainly belongs to informative text and operative text. Therefore, the translator formulated the basic translation techniques under the guidance of Text Typology theory: the translation of informative texts should convey accurate and complete information with translation skills such as addition, omission, and imitation, etc. While the operative texts should be translated with the techniques of conversion and addition to achieve their appellative functions.Through the translation practice and report writing, the translator had a deeper understanding of translation.Meanwhile, the translator hopes that this report can provide some references for translating popular psychological books in the future.
