A Study Of The Primitivist Tendency In The Gauguin Tahiti Period

Gauguin was a representative painter of French Post-Impressionism in the nineteenth century,and together with Van Gogh and Cézanne,he was later known as the Three Masters of Post-Impressionism.His works have the characteristics of mystery,symbolism,primitiveness,etc.,is considered to be the pioneer of primitivism in the art of painting,while the works of the Tahiti period have a strong "barbaric" atmosphere,its painting style is very different from Impressionism and the previous painting school,the painting emphasizes irrational intuition and subconscious impulses,the lines and colors in the works are extremely expressive,thus producing musicality and decoration,full of the atmosphere of primitivism,which has influenced the painting form,language and emotional expression of later artists.Therefore,this paper takes the primitivist tendencies of the Gauguin Tahiti period as the research direction,and better understands and understands Gauguin’s value in art and the guiding significance for future generations of artists.This article is composed of three parts,and the main text is divided into three chapters.The first chapter traces the roots of the specific expression of pictivism and Gauguin’s primitivism,and deeply searches for the roots from the aspects of its era,environment,and family and personal experience;the second chapter starts from Gauguin’s works and studies Gauguin’s artistic expression in the primitiveist tendency from form and content;the third chapter summarizes the re-understanding of primitivism and the influence on the development of modernism and personal creation.From the analysis of the background of the times,personal experience,content and form of the work,the whole text provides a deeper understanding of primitivism,and at the same time understands its influence on the development of modernism and inspires personal creation.
