The archway is the witness of social development. Its construction is closely related to the country’s politics, economy and ideology at that time, and it is the materialized form of the concept of national governance and social morality. The archway in central Guizhou is a testimony to the political, cultural and social development of central Guizhou, and is an important material material for studying the social history of central Guizhou in the Qing Dynasty. In view of this,on the basis of field investigation combined with historical records, the article takes the existing24 arches in the Qing Dynasty in central Guizhou as the research object, and uses the research methods of history, anthropology, ethnology and other disciplines to place the arches in the society of the Qing Dynasty. In history,we try to explore the artistic value and cultural connotation of the archway, analyze the social development characteristics of the archway in the Qing Dynasty and the social function of the archway in the Qing Dynasty, and then explore the contemporary value and significance of the archway. The 24 existing archways in central Guizhou are mainly distributed in Guiyang City,Anshun City,Qingzhen City,Puding County, and Guiding County;the time is mainly distributed in Qianlong,Jiaqing,Daoguang,Tongzhi,Xianfeng and Guangxu years, and The most in Daoguang years.According to the functional nature of the archway, the archway can be divided into four categories: Centennial Square,Festival Xiaofang,Mausoleum Square and Sign Square.Judging from the shape of the archway, the archway is of the eaves type, the sky type and the "one-line type".Judging from the carving technology of the archway, the archway mostly uses four kinds of carving techniques: relief, flat carving, round carving and openwork. The carving process, decorative patterns, diction and calligraphy of the archway all reflect its important artistic value, and also reflect the development and exchange of art between Guizhou and China in the Qing Dynasty. From the interpretation of the content of the archway, the archway of the Centennial Square not only reflects the development of the owner’s family, but also reflects the culture of respecting the elderly, respecting the elderly and filial piety in the Qing Dynasty. On the one hand, the Festival of Filial Piety reflects the social influence of the master family and the shackles and restraints of traditional morality such as the "view of chastity" on women;on the other hand,it shows the quality of women’s filial piety. The mausoleum workshop reflects the contribution made by Zhang Duanwang’s family in Qingzhen during the Qing Dynasty. The sign workshop reflects the dissemination of Confucianism in Guizhou and the integration of cultural exchanges between Guizhou and China. In the Qing Dynasty, while the dissemination of the concept of state governance and Confucianism affected the changes in the types of arches, the arches also spread the Confucian ethics and morality to the society of central Guizhou,so as to achieve the role of social education and social guidance. This is mainly reflected in the prosperity of Confucianism in the exchange and collision of Tusi culture and Confucianism in central Guizhou after the middle of the Qing Dynasty, and the respect of the archway in the society of the Qing Dynasty. At the same time, the archway has important historical, cultural and artistic value, and plays an important role in promoting filial piety, harmony, friendliness and other cultures and the development of rural revitalization.
