A Practice Report On The E-C Translation Of Fearless Hope（Chapters 1-3）

In the novel Fearless Hope,the main characters Hope and Logan encountered their own hardship and started to pursue happiness together after they met.The story is narrated through two lines at the beginning,and in the end two lines are integrated into one.Based on the English-Chinese translation of the novel Fearless Hope,the author chooses Chapters 1-3 out of 31 chapters with about 11,000 words as translation material for this translation report.The practice report of translation consists of five parts.It includes the whole translation process,the problems in translation and offered solutions to those problems.The first part is about the background and significance of the translation.The second part introduces the features of the source text including lexical features,syntactical features and textual features.The third part mainly introduces the translation process: pre-translation preparation,during-translation procedure and post-translation reflection.As the essential part of the whole practice report,the fourth part mainly talks about the translation problems in lexical,syntactic and textual aspects,such as: figurative images,long and complex sentences,elliptical sentences and textual structure.What’s more,it also introduces the related solutions respectively:free translation,linear translation and reverse translation,information complement and logic reorganization.The fifth part is the conclusion in which the author summarizes the gaining and the inadequacies in her writing of the translation report.The practical report is expected to be served as a reference for MTI students who will be engaged in literary translation.
