Grammar teaching plays an important role in cultivating students’ language ability.In order to improve the disadvantages of the traditional high schools’ English grammar teaching,heightening the students’ grammar learning and English teachers’ teaching effect,this study based on the multimodal discourse analysis theory,applied the multimodal teaching mode to the senior high schools’ English grammar teaching with the purpose of improving grammar teaching quality and promoting students’ language ability.Since the “New London Group” put forward the idea of combining multimodal teaching with foreign language teaching in 1996,scholars at home and abroad have carried out multimodal teaching research in various aspects of language teaching,which enriched language teaching methods and greatly promoted the development of language teaching.On this basis,this study explores the feasibility and effectiveness of multimodal teaching mode in English grammar teaching in the senior high school,and intends to explore the following questions:(1)What are the effects of multimodal teaching mode on improving high school students’ enthusiasm in English grammar learning?(2)What is the effect of multimodal teaching mode on high school students’ understanding and memorizing of English grammar?(3)What is the influence of multimodal teaching mode on the application of English grammar knowledge by senior high school students?The author selected 90 students from two classes of a senior high school in Liaoning Province as the research objects.The two classes were divided into one control class(CC)and one experimental class(EC),and carried out the teaching experiment for three months.At the same time,research tools such as pre-test and post-test,two questionnaires and interview were used to analyze the experimental data and test the results with SPSS 25.0.The results show that the application of multimodal teaching mode in high school English grammar teaching has a very significant effect on high school students.Combined with sound,video,symbol and other modes,multimodal teaching mode can stimulate the enthusiasm of high school students to learn English grammar,and finally can significantly improve the understanding and application of English grammar in high school students.This study has some implications for high school English grammar teaching: applying multimodal teaching mode in high school English grammar class can greatly enhance and stimulate high school students’ initiative in learning English grammar.In class,it can not only improve students’ learning efficiency,but also deepen their understanding of grammar knowledge by selecting the content close to students’ interests and creating a pleasant learning atmosphere by using multimodal teaching mode.There are still some defects and deficiencies in this study: for example,the number of grammatical knowledge points in this study is limited.In conclusion,the application of multimodal teaching mode in the senior high school English grammar teaching deserves further study,and we hope that the future scholars can achieve more excellent results.
