A Practice Report On The Simulated C-E Simultaneous Interpreting Of Farewell To Poverty Under The Model Of Cognitive Loads

In recent years,the Communist Party of China and the Chinese government have been committed to achieving comprehensive poverty alleviation.CCTV is also constantly updating the progress of poverty alleviation to the society on time.Poverty alleviation is the goal of government officials to strive for and is an important path for the people to strive to live a better life.When China conducts international exchanges with the world,it pays special attention to show the great achievements of China’s poverty alleviation to the world,hoping to provide reference for the world’s poverty alleviation work.Therefore,poverty alleviation has become a crucial task for translators in the new era.This report adopts Effort Model proposed by French interpreting theorist Gile as a theoretical guide.This report summarizes the problems arising from documentary simultaneous interpreting and tries to propose solutions.Effort Model proposed by Gile has a guiding role for effort distribution and interpreting output in the simultaneous interpreting,and he also puts forward corresponding equation used in the interpreting process,namely: SI= L + M + P + C（L refers to listening,M to memory,P to language output,and C to coordination of all efforts）.This report is a practice report on the simulated simultaneous interpreting of Farewell to Poverty under the model of cognitive loads.The corpus is selected from the CCTV documentary Farewell to Poverty,which are both cultural and political.Due to the complexity of the corpus text,the translator mainly encounters five main problems,including the complicated source-language information,the complex source-language syntax,the difficult accent of the source-language dialect,the difficult characteristic vocabulary conversion and lagging output in the interpretation task.It also lists solutions,including omission,conversion,supplement,explanation and simplification,which are targeted to solve the translation problems.It is hoped that this simulated simultaneous interpretation of the social documentary Farewell to Poverty can provide a reference for the Chinese-English simultaneous interpreting of poverty alleviation documentaries in China.
