A Study Of Chen Ting’s Ci And Concept Of Ci Poetry

As word research gradually thorough,the Ming hongzhi,jiajing luxuriousness for fruitful creation achievements be modern and contemporary study of Ming Ci is the focus,Chen Ting is one of outstanding poets in this period,he not only devoted his life to the study of Ci with many achievements and innovation,but also created the first art works in the Ming history named as Zhu Shan Tang Ci Hua,which enriched the connotation of the thought of Ci in Ming dynasty.At the same time,his Ci style creation and Ci theory can complement and promote each other.Taking Chen Ting’s Ci creation and thought as research theme,mainly with Zhu Shan Tang Ci Hua as the backing,supplemented by other literary thought study,analyzed Chen Ting’s Ci,sorted out Chen Ting thoughts of Ci systematically,and viewed the real condition of mid Ming dynasty Ci development from another aspect.In addition to the introduction and conclusion,the paper is divided into four parts.The first chapter investigated the socio-political and background of Ci.On the one hand,the literature,ideology,politics and other fields were in turmoil during the period of Zheng De and Jia Jing,which had a great impact on the mind,fortune and literary creation of Ci writers.On the other hand,Yang Shen,Xia Yan,Chen Duo and other Ci scholars emerged in the field of Ci poetry,which brought a new atmosphere to the Ci of Ming Dynasty.Although Chen Ting was not famous,his creation and theoretical contribution to Ci poetry can not be ignored.Chapter two discussed Chen Ting’s life experience and his Ci style creation.According to historical materials and Ci writers’ works,it can be roughly concluded that Chen Ting’s birth and death years ranged from the 12 th year of Cheng Hua（1476）to the 28 th year of Jia Jing（1549）.He was 74 years old.The relegation period from the second year of Zheng De（1507）to the sixth year of Zheng De（1511）exerted a great influence on Ci writers’ mentality and literary creation.From the view of mentality,it is embodied in three stages: the Confucian thought of the emperor such as Yao and Shun,the Buddhist thought of everything being empty,and the Taoist thought of seclusion and detachment.In terms of Ci style creation,it is manifested in three aspects: the broadening of the subject matter,the change of the lyric hero and the application of the means of reposing.The third chapter was a specific study of Chen Ting’s thoughts on Ci.From the perspective of his Ci writing,he paid special attention to "intention" and "innovation".From the perspective of Ci,Chen Ting held the evaluation method of "the word is the person",which is an innovation in Ming Ci criticism.From the view of aesthetic style,the creation of Chen Ting’s Ci showed the characteristics of gracefulness and boldness,his practice of adhering to the characteristics and taking the initiative to innovate has injected new vitality into the development of Ming Ci.Chapter four analyzed Chen Ting’s achievements and position in the history of Ci poetry.First of all,from the number of words,content,creative methods and other aspects,can be compared favourably with Ci writers at the same time.Secondly,the Zhu Shan Tang Ci Hua’s characteristics of complete style,abundant collection,the preserving the history of Ci and promoting the style of Ci brought positive significance to the development of the history of Ci in Ming Dynasty.Finally,due to the limitations of his background,experiences,Ci style and content,Chen Ting was not famous in the Ming Dynasty.However,in terms of his Ci study activities,creation and theoretical contributions,it is necessary to redefining his position in the history of Ci.
