With the rapid development of China’s economy and culture,etc.,the “Chinese fever” is still heating up worldwide.However,due to the impact of the global coronavirus pandemic since 2019,it is difficult for international students to come to China to study.As an alternative,the model of online learning is launched in time and now it has been widely used in Chinese learning of international students.However,students cannot be as concentrated in online environment as in real world.Therefore,to explore the level of engagement in online learning as well as its influencing factors becomes an urgent problem to be solved.This research takes Thai international students who have received online Chinese courses as the research object,and adopts the method of questionnaire survey and interview to measure and analyze the level of engagement of Thai international students in online Chinese learning as well as the influencing factors.The first chapter reviews relevant literature and divides the online learning engagement into four dimensions,including behavioral engagement,cognitive engagement,emotional engagement,and social interaction engagement.At the same time,the influencing factors are measured from four dimensions,including students themselves,teachers,peers and environment.The second chapter makes theoretical assumptions and research design.The third and fourth chapters respectively conduct a questionnaire survey and analysis on the current situation and influencing factors of online Chinese learning engagement of Thai international students.Specifically,referring to NSSE and other questionnaires,descriptive statistical analysis,difference analysis,correlation analysis and regression analysis are carried out on the collected data by using SPSS21.0 software.The fifth chapter supplements the data with the interview records of teachers and international students,and then draws the final conclusion through comprehensive analysis.The results of this research show that there is no significant difference in the level of learning engagement of Thai international students of different genders,grades,and majors.Generally,the level of engagement of Thai international students in online Chinese learning is not high,and the average value of each dimension is relatively low.Among the four dimensions,the cognitive engagement is the highest,while the behavioral engagement is the lowest.The analysis of the aforesaid four influencing factors,i.e.self,teachers,peers,and environment shows that there is a significant correlation between these factors and the indicators of Thai international students’ learning engagement.The sixth chapter puts forward some suggestions from the perspectives of students,teachers and school according to the problems found in the survey,hoping to effectively increase the level of engagement in online Chinese learning of Thai international students,promote the research on learning engagement in online environment and then promote the continuous development of Chinese teaching.
