Blazars are the most actives subclass of AGNs,which show a variety of extreme observational properties.Variability is a common phenomenon for blazars, which can be observed from radio to high energy band. Some parameters and characteristics of variability can provide many information for the structure and radiation mechanism of blazars. In this paper,we study on the optical observation and period analysis of blazars. We introduce the basic concepts and the classifications of AGNs in the first chapter.Chapter 2 describe the optical observation process of blazars. We discuss several method of period analysis in chapter 3,including power spectrum analysis, jurkevich method and discrete correlation funciton. Then we use all the method mentioned above to analyze the blazar 3C66A in the last chapter.Base on the observations of 3C66A from September 2019 to January 2020 using 1.26m Infrared/Optical Telescope(NAGIOT)at Xinglong station,National Astronomical Observatories,China,we analysis the periodicity for 3C66A using both three method, obtain a possible period of 32.0 days, which can be explained by the helical jet model.
