China's urban construction has greatly increased the overall urbanisation rate and at the same time has generated a large amount of construction and demolition waste. There is around2.36 billion tones construction and demolition waste generated per year, but the recycling rate is only around 5%,making the contradiction between the high production of construction and demolition waste and the low efficiency of disposal increasingly prominent. With the development of material science and technology, the feasibility of resource utilisation of construction and demolition waste has been proven, and the value of recycling is high. The recycling of construction and demolition waste in China is taking off, with provinces and municipalities responding positively to the resource utilisation of construction and demolition waste and beginning to formulate relevant policies and develop the construction and demolition waste resource utilisation industry.Construction and demolition waste disposal enterprises are springing up and gradually entering the recycling market. However, most of the current research on construction and demolition waste disposal focuses on economic-cost analysis at the theoretical level, and gaps exist in the empirical analysis of the development of construction and demolition waste disposal industry. At the same time, most of the existing research is focused on a certain city, which cannot explain the mutual influence between cities in the process of industrial development, thus it is difficult to provide a comprehensive reference for the development of construction and demolition waste disposal industry. After sorting out the basic concepts of construction and demolition waste disposal industry development and related industrial analysis theories, the article takes the Yangtze River Delta city cluster as an example and screens more than 15,253 construction and demolition waste disposal-related enterprises between 2012 and 2019,constructing a spatial and temporal development model based on time-series analysis and Spatial Durbin model. Then, the temporal distribution pattern of the construction and demolition waste disposal industry in the region is analysed, and the reasons for the change in the growth rate of the industry scale are explored. Finally, the spatial distribution pattern of the construction and demolition waste disposal industry in the region is analysed, the Moran'I is used to describe the spatial autocorrelation, and the influencing factors of the industrial development in the region are analysed based on the theory of economy of scale and the theory of industrial agglomeration, and the decomposition of the effects of these factors is carried out.The results of the time-series analysis show that:(1)the scale of the construction and demolition waste disposal industry in the region has been expanding year by year, and the scale growth rate has increased significantly after being stimulated by policies around 2016;(2)the scale and development rate of the central cities in the development circle are higher than those of the surrounding cities. The results of the spatial measurement study show that:(1)the spatial autocorrelation of the construction and demolition waste disposal industry is significant at a 1% level, but the overall correlation level is relatively low;(2)Per capita GDP,annual yield of construction and demolition waste, research and development level, transportation development level, human capital and education level positively affect the construction and demolition waste disposal industry, conversely marketisation level negatively influences the development of the construction and demolition waste disposal industry;(3)the influencing factors have a significant spatial spillover effect and can affect the scale of the construction and demolition waste disposal industry in this city and neighbouring cities at the same time, with slightly different directions of action. Finally, based on the results of the empirical analysis of the spatial and temporal development pattern of the construction and demolition waste disposal industry, suggestions in the following four aspects were proposed: formulating regional linkage policies and promote a unified disposal system;making full use of market competition and enrich the financing mode of the industry;formulating regional plant construction plans and reasonably plan the infrastructure;strengthening the publicity of environmental protection and encouraging product technological innovation. The article innovatively conducted an industrial economic analysis of the construction and demolition waste disposal industry, discovered the patterns of the industry in the temporal and spatial dimensions, and finded the key influencing factors for the development of the industry. It fills a gap in the current economic research on the construction waste industry, helps to understand the regional linkages of the construction and demolition waste disposal industry, helps to develop a regionally linked construction and demolition waste disposal model and management system, helps relevant scholars to understand the actual development process of the construction and demolition waste disposal industry, and promotes excellent disposal models for construction and demolition waste in China. The analysis of the industry from the perspective of spatial and temporal development laws can be extended to the municipal waste, hazardous waste and wastewater treatment industries, providing a reference for the economic research of related industries. In addition, the article can provide investors in the construction and demolition waste disposal industry with ideas for industrial analysis, helping them to analyse the location distribution and timely development characteristics of the local construction and demolition waste disposal industry,so as to formulate plans for investment capital, plant site selection and investment nodes.
