| The example sentences in teaching materials serve to explain and prove the target language point,which is the most important thing in teaching Chinese as a foreign language.Example sentences can not only help learners understand language points,but also enable learners to understand the applicable context.It is an effective teaching method,sometimes more effective than interpretation.Good example sentences can not only better guide teachers’ teaching,but also guide learners to master the usage of language points efficiently.Therefore,the quality of example sentences is the key factor in teaching,and its importance is self-evident.Based on previous research results,this paper makes a statistical analysis of the example sentences in the two volumes I and II of Developing Chinese·Advanced Comprehensive Course,investigates and analyzes the scientificalness,typicality and practicability of the example sentences in the teaching materials,and provides some suggestions on the use of the example sentences in teaching materials for Chinese as a foreign language.The thesis is divided into five chapters.In the first chapter,the example sentences in Developing Chinese·Advanced Comprehensive Course are classified.In terms of textbook style,the example sentences fall into two types:footnote example sentences and annotation example sentences.From the point of view of language point type,the example sentences can be divided into six types:compound sentence examples,common sentence examples or structure examples,common word or phrase examples,newly-established learned word examples,rhetoric examples,and texts and expressions examples.The second chapter analyzes the scientificalness of example sentences in teaching materials,examining the standardization,difficulty,rationality of example sentences groups sequence,and the repetition,and finds that the example sentences have not many scientific problems,while it does not pay any attention to the repetition rates and sequences of the example sentences.The third chapter explores the typicality of example sentences,including the coverage of typical semantics,the demonstration effect of common forms and structures,and the clarity of contexts,and finds that the example sentences in the teaching materials conform to the principle of typicality,while there are some problems in the clarity of the context.The fourth chapter studies the practicality of example sentences in textbooks,covering the communicative,interesting and cultural aspects of example sentences,and the cultural and interesting aspects of the practicality of the example sentences are still needed to be strengthened.Drawing on the previous research,the fifth chapter brings forward suggestions on the use of example sentences for Chinese textbooks for foreigners from six aspects:reducing the difficulty of example sentences,adjusting the sequence of example sentence groups,improving the repetition rate of new words and language points,adding and deleting example sentences appropriately,supplementing and perfecting the context of example sentences,and enhancing the interestingness and cultural significance of example sentences. |
