An Embodied Study Of The Semantic Comprehension Of Chinese Single-Word Verbs

The theory of embodied cognition emphasizes that the body plays a key role in the process of cognition.This study explored the embodied effect of semantic understanding of Chinese body verbs from the perspective of behavior and ERP.The purpose of experiment 1was to investigate whether the neuronal hypothesis of hebb could be verified in the understanding of Chinese body verbs.Experiment 2 further explored the embodiment of the newly learned meanings of body movement words.Experiment 3 studied whether the brain regions activated when the subjects understood the verbs of hand,foot and face were consistent with the brain regions activated when they actually performed these three kinds of actions from the ERP level.In the experiment,Chinese hand verbs,foot verbs,face verbs and some false words which conform to the orthographic structure but have no meaning were selected as the experimental materials to complete the task of language learning and semantic judgment.The results of behavioral experiments show that the response time of facial verbs is the shortest,and that of foot verbs is the longest.It shows that the speed of understanding facial verbs is faster than that of foot verbs.The results of learning and cognition show that compared with the subjects who only learn without action,the subjects in the action learning group react faster,and the action of the hand button promotes the semantic understanding of the hand verb.The response speed of the hand verb is significantly faster than that of the foot verb,indicating that the body action can indeed promote the corresponding body verb The learning effect of meaning understanding.ERP results showed that there was a trend of consistency effect in the brain area of action semantic understanding and specific action execution,and the results of behavior experiment were consistent with the wave trend of ERP experiment.There is a consistent trend between the brain regions activated by semantic understanding of Chinese body verbs and the brain regions activated by body actions.Therefore,from the perspective of Neurology and behavioral research,this study shows that semantic understanding has its own effect Therefore,from the perspective of Neurology and behavioral research,this study shows that there is a body effect in semantic understanding.
