Research On Language Services In International Competitions From The Perspective Of Manipulation Theory

Since the new era,with the implementation of the sports power strategy,and the gradual implementation of the plan to build the names of world events in the construction of Chengdu's "Three Cities and Three Metropolis",more and more large-scale international sports events have settled in Chengdu.They are a platform for multicultural collisions and exchanges,as well as a showcase for the mental outlook of athletes from various countries.For Chengdu,it is also an important opportunity to enhance the worldwide influence of its urban culture and to exert cultural confidence.Professional language service can improve the fluency and efficiency of the event;If the language service personnel can properly reconcile the differences between the ideology and cultural values of the international sports federations and the event organizer,it will make the brand side leave a good impression of cooperation and benefit future long-term cooperation,thus further promotes the construction of the famous sports event city.The language service is also a bridge between the participants and the host city.Attentive event language service can effectively spread the city culture,establish a friendly and enthusiastic city image,and display the spiritual outlook of the city and even the country.The famous translator Levefere put forward "translation is rewriting" and manipulation theory.He pointed out that translation activities have been manipulated by the three major elements of ideology,poetics and patronage.This study takes manipulation theory as the theoretical framework,and uses literature analysis,expert interviews,and case analysis to research the language services of international competitions from the perspective of three major elements.This article analyzes manipulations like the selection of translation content and vocabulary correction by ideology in the language service of the event;poetry's style,tone,rhetoric and taboo words;the "appearance" and "invisibility" of patrons and translators in translation practice.This article also experimentally verified the explanatory power of the manipulation theory to the language service of the event,and revealed the essence of the language service being manipulated by the event.Based on this,the author put forward suggestions that the language service personnel of the event should strengthen the local awareness,broaden the cultural horizon,and strengthen their basic language skills.
