A Study Of Language Personality By Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Zakharova

The theory of the structure of language personality,created by Yu.N.Karaulov,is one of the most important theories in Russian linguistics since the 1980 s.This theory is synthetic and interdisciplinary,which significantly expands the aspects of language learning.Language personality is a set of abilities and characteristics of a person that determine the creation and perception of speech works(texts).Each text has a personality behind it.Consequently,the language personality involves how "language speaker" and "speaker’s language".The language personality has a three-level structure: the verbal-semantic level,the cognitive level,and the pragmatic level.This work is based on the theory of language personality structure.The object of study is the individual language personality of the Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman M.V.Zakharova.In her text on the briefings during 1 November 2018 through 14 November 2019,which is considered a "language speaker",we analyze the peculiarities of its vocabulary,the image of Russia in her cognition and the characteristics how she speaks Russian,and sum up the language personality of M.V.Zakharova.This dissertation consists of three parts: introduction,main part and conclusion.The introduction will present the background of study of language personality of the Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman M.V.Zakharova and determine the object of study,its purpose and importance,put forward the research questions,research methods,important and difficult points of research,and also to explain the innovation of this study.The main part consists of four chapters:The first Chapter is a review of the literature on the topic of research on language personality.In this Chapter,we will detail and evaluate the history and current state of language personality research in the country and abroad.Reading the relevant literature,it turns out that no one has investigated the language personality of the Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman M.V.Zakharova.The second Chapter is the theory of the structure of language personality.This Chapter is also the theoretical basis of this thesis.In this Chapter,we will systematically introduce the main concepts of the theory of language personality structure — personality,language personality,and text.We will also describe the model of the theory of language personality structure.The third Chapter is a study of texts that reflect the language personality of M.V.Zakharova.In this Chapter we will present methods of collecting the texts and the strategy of sorting the texts.In accordance with the three-level structure of the language personality,text samples are divided into three categories: texts that reflect lexical features,texts that reflect the image of Russia,and texts that reflect the peculiarities of speaking.We will also count the frequency of language personality in the text and analyze the validity of the study.The fourth Chapter is analysis of the language personality of M.V.Zakharova.This Chapter is the main part of this dissertation.In line with the theory of the structure of the language personality,we will analyze the features of her vocabulary,the image of Russia that she learns,and the features of how she speaks Russian.In conclusion,we will summarize the content of this thesis,find shortcomings in research and raise issues worthy of further research.
